Common Questions
Straight answers to the questions government partners ask us most often.
Are you familiar with government procurement processes?
Yes. We understand the complexity of public sector procurement, including standing offers, task authorizations, and competitive bidding processes. We work with your procurement team to find the right vehicle for engagement.
How do you handle data sovereignty requirements?
Data sovereignty is a core requirement for us, not an option. All data is stored and processed on Canadian cloud infrastructure. We do not use services that transfer data outside of Canada without explicit legal basis and consent.
Can you work within an existing government IT environment?
Yes. We regularly integrate with existing government platforms, identity systems, and APIs. We assess your technical environment in the discovery phase and design solutions that work within your constraints.
How do you approach responsible AI in a government context?
We follow the Government of Canada Directive on Automated Decision-Making and the Treasury Board AI standards. Every AI system we build includes bias testing, explainability mechanisms, human oversight workflows, and a formal responsible AI review document.
Do you have experience with the Official Languages Act requirements?
Yes. Bilingual delivery is standard for us. We build all public-facing services with full English and French support, and we can support Indigenous language requirements where applicable.
What makes Nation Code different from a private sector vendor?
We are a non-profit. We do not have shareholders to answer to, and we are not trying to maximize contract value. We recommend what is right for the problem, build it honestly, and measure success by public impact, not by revenue.
Why Nation Code?
We are a Canadian non-profit with one goal: public good. We don't answer to shareholders. We answer to Canadians. Our team understands the complexity of government, the importance of accountability, and the urgency of getting digital services right.
When you work with Nation Code, you are not hiring a vendor. You are gaining a mission-aligned partner who will tell you the truth, build what you actually need, and measure success the same way you do — by the impact on the people you serve.
